This Privacy Policy applies to the Hall Pass Chrome Extension (“the Product”). The single purpose of this Product is to allow staff of AeroSTEM Academy to track and assign bathroom passes. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your data is handled securely and transparently.

2. Information We Collect

To provide our core functionality, the Product requests the narrowest permissions necessary and collects the following data:

  • User Information: Student IDs, Teacher Email addresses

Note: We do not collect web browsing activity or any data outside of what is strictly necessary for the creation and management of hall passes.

3. How We Use Your Data

We strictly limit the use of collected data to providing and improving our single purpose (managing hall passes). Your data is used to:

  • Verify student and teacher identities for pass creation.
  • Log pass history for administrative and safety purposes within your organization.
  • Ensure the core functionality of the extension operates correctly.

4. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Data is only shared with the following parties:

  • School administration/staff utilizing the app
  • Google Workspace for data storage via Google Sheets

We will only transfer user data to third parties if necessary to:

  • Provide or improve our single purpose.
  • Comply with applicable laws.
  • Protect against malware, spam, phishing, or other fraud or abuse.

Prohibited Transfers: We absolutely do not transfer, use, or sell user data for personalized advertisements, to data brokers, or to determine credit-worthiness.

5. Limited Use Policy Disclosure

Hall Pass complies strictly with the Chrome Web Store Minimum User Data Privacy Requirements.

Affirmative Statement of Compliance:

The use of information received from Google APIs and Chrome Web Store will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Furthermore, we do not allow humans to read user data unless:

  • We obtain the user’s explicit consent to read specific data.
  • It is necessary for security purposes (e.g., investigating abuse).
  • It is required to comply with applicable laws.

6. Data Security and Handling

We prioritize the security of your information. All user data collected by the Product is handled securely and transmitted using modern cryptography (HTTPS/TLS) to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, or alteration. We do not publicly disclose any authentication or personal information.

7. User Consent and Permissions

By installing and using Hall Pass, you affirmatively consent to the data collection and use practices outlined in this policy. The Product only requests permissions that are actively used to support its primary function. You may revoke these permissions at any time by uninstalling the extension from your Chrome Browser.

8. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or Chrome Web Store policies. We will update the “Effective Date” at the top of this policy whenever changes are made.
